Hi All,
I've really come to love the Cafe' over the past couple of months. But as I worked my way to all the different places, spaces and spots, I've had the vague feeling that something was missing. I think I know what it is.
We need a chapel,
a spirit lodge,
a cell,
a place to rest and
refresh and
contemplate and
commune and
pray and
maybe just take off all the hats we wear every day and
just be.
I've experienced a lot of wonderful poetry, lyrics and art since I came here. But often it is lost in the laughter and the tears and the teaching and the debate (and sometimes the hollering!) that makes the Cafe' such a vibrant alive place.
Sometimes I want to go to a place where I can simply sit, read some wonderful spiritual material, and enjoy rest, peace and refreshment. Where I can read, and maybe be lead to prayer and contemplation and meditation. Do you think the Cafe' should have a chapel/spirit lodge/resting place? I think we should ask our friends at the admin desk to find a quiet corner where we can listen for the still small voice. What say you?

Can I ask that if this happens, the name be kept to something like "the quiet place" or "the resting place"?

Certainly an ecumenical name is best. But we may want to incorporate some aspect of spirituality into the name. Just my two cents.

Would we sit and look at our computer screen?

Ah my dear Mad Monk,
The spirit of God can be found in any place and any time. From the deepest forest to the highest office tower and yes, on a computer screen.

Good idea.
You could have the "chapel" divided into Prayer Requests, reflective poetry/stories, daily scripture to ponder ( but who would post it?), photos to reflect on.....
The problem will come up when someone posts something that someone else doesn't approve of. Then you will get sniping.
i guess the guidelines could be that you can only post original or quoted items and no comments are to be made about posts but that seems restrictive

I like the idea too - it might need some different parts - prayers, celebrations, maybe around themes - healing, joy, worry, etc.
I've wondered about that for awhile - thanks for putting my thoughts into words.
