February is a hard month in the Okanagan and in Lumby we sit with about 3 feet of snow compacted heavily all around us, covering the plants, rocks, dirt and water that we related to in the summer. I think most people feel down in February. This morning was further down. I had a shower and stepped onto the mat in front of a mirror. The I was, naked as the day I was born, staring at another person. Then it happened.

Wow Betty-Jean! We'd think

Wow Betty-Jean!
We'd think you had the mystical experience, not me. I am so glad that my little awareness can enliven your relationship with your God. I do accept your gift of interpretations as a possibility for me. I tend to view things through a different lens, but it likely ends up in the same place.
Jesus, for me, was a man from the start. Whether he was transformed and transfigured, I don't really know, but I do know that all is possible with a Creative Spirit. To walk like Christ is to see people as he saw them in his time, and would see them in my time. He was an awesome man. I have never felt the need for an Afterlife and I don't think it adds anything to my God. The Creator's gift is in front of my eyes and with the beauty, love and power of all that I see, every day. I think, had I looked a bit closer in the mirror, I might have seen an aura around my image -this was the slight shifting of the body perhaps. I have seen this aura before in pictures taken of me. For me this has always been my Spirit within. I have recently begin to call it my "God-chip", but I have always felt It within psychologically - a personal force within that I gain courage and compassion from. It is part of what I have always called my "authentic self". This Self often scares people, for some reason.
So yes, God be praised. Our God is an awesome God. I celebrate with a quieter curiosity than you do, my friend. I'm not much of a fan of having Jesus blood applied over my physical and spiritual body, but I understand your metaphor, given what you believe. So I thank you for your considered feedback and wish you continued Grace on your Journey,
Dave

Hi LumbyLad: Mystical
Posted on: 02/26/2009 21:38
Hi LumbyLad:
Mystical experience isn't always the ecstatic experience I make it out to be. Many people are shaken up by the experience, and some even get scared by the "otherwordliness" of it.
I think in mystical experience, when thinking is momentarily suspended, we experience reality as it really is. This can be scary, because most of the time we experience reality only as we think it is, not as it really is. Mystical experience is a real reality check, which sometimes comes as a shock, and sometimes is accompanied by ecstasy: the proverbial rapture.

One might say that mystical

One might say that mystical experience "should" open the person to that reality of who he/she is and therefore have an effect on being more authentic form the inside-out. This was the message I got, as it was something I have been thinking about.
PS. My apologies for turning my usual "Discussion topics" into Blogs. I think Blogs should be saved for long homilies, sermons or complex dialogues, not just thoughts.....
