I'm going to be writing a paper on compulsary military service and the implications of it's implementation in Canada. Since it's a good topic, I thought I'd share here and see if there might be any interesting facets that I may have overlooked.
So, what would you say if Canada imposed a 2-year compulsary military service for all men and women over 18?
I was home in bed, sick, and I needed something to watch. Having cancelled my cable TV a few years ago, I decided to give Itune movies a try and I found One Week.. It appealed to me as it was the story of one week in Ben Tyler (Joshua Jackson) life. A Toronto man in his mid twenties engaged to be married, just starting out in his career as a teacher and writer. The film starts with him being diagnosed with an aggressive cancer that is in stage 4. With treatment the Doctor gives him a 10% chance of beating it.

Halloween came and went and I have loot bag full of memories. The Oct 31st event is now the fourth largest holiday in America for consumer spending - can you name the other three? dont forget Mother's day
This is me with a lovely stranger at the Gardiner Museum in downtown Toronto.
Arctic Bay, Nunavut bed and breakfast business blogger, Clare Kines is profiled on this month's Canada Blog Friends index website. Here's a picture of Clare Kines leading a berry picking expedition in July. That's the town of Arctic Bay in the background. Brrr..
I've been thinking about this a lot lately and am looking for a few other ideas about this whole scenario.
The recent Kingston canal murders of four women of colour are still under investigation, but formal charges have been laid against the father, mother, and brother of three of the victims (with the fourth suspected of being a first wife of the father).
I am curious if anyone knows the rules re Canada Day.
I discovered earlier this week that our plant is closed down on Friday, July 3rd, not Wed, July 1st. Surprised me, but, then I figured, ok, maybe the rules changed.
I'm not sure if you're familiar with the story of Abousfian Abdelrazik, the Canadian who is basically a prisoner in the Canadian Embassy in the Sudan. His story is another horrible of example of justice gone wrong and our present government is doing nothing to assist Mr. Abdelrazik, if fact, they are, by their actions and their lack of action, condemning him to a life that should not be his fate. I feel quite angry that he is being treated this way and find it increasingly embarrasing to be a Canadian.
