Are we the elite?

I know that years back when the United Church spoke, the country listened. I know that has changed.

I also have put this thread here rather than in Church life because I would like to hear a wider discussion.

I always have had the feeling that The United Church  and the people of the United Church  felt that they were a cut above other denominations.

Baptism - A Leap of Faith

The United Church of Canada was featured in a beautiful story in today’s Globe and Mail, entitled “A Leap of Faith” http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/parenting/parenting-facts-and-arguments/i-was-unsure-about-baptizing-our-son/article2166116/   Here is the text:

United Church POI App

Anyone know of the United Church of Canada POI app for the GPS? Might be interesting to create one. Ideas? Data source? If McDonalds and Tom Hortons can do it, why not the United Church?

Reuniting a broken family

This story warmed the cockles of my heart - it renews my faith in the United Church of Canada's ability to bring people together.

A reunion to remember

Do you know about what the United Church is doing abroad?

Just over a week ago, I started a job at the United Church head office, in the JGER unit.  That's the Justice, Global and Ecumenical Relations unit, for the uninitiated.  And I was blown away at the breadth and depth of what goes on here.

The JGER Unit - Things I've Learned, and Why I Love My Job

This past Monday, I had my first day at UCC Head Office.  I was offered a job in the JGER - Justice, Global and Ecumenical Relations - unit.  My head is still spinning, but I know I can say something I've never said before:  I love my job.

I was thrown into things straight off the starting block - conference calls, staff meetings, M&S awareness week, etc.  I don't think I've had much time to process everything yet!  But I have learned a handful of things.  Here they are:

Craik.

Multi-Faith Saskatchewan partnered with the Craik Sustainable Living Project to develop the Designated Sacred Space Project near the Craik Eco-Centre, which overlooks the Arm River Valley.

The project's objective is to promote unity in diversity, said Krishan Kapila, president of the multi-faith organization.

What's in a preposition? A church "of" Canada or "in" Canada?

I’ll never forget the summer I worked at a Mennonite camp—Fraser Lake Camp—near Bancroft, Ontario.
