While Churchill Park United is a relatively new congregation, it has old and deep roots in its two founding churches. Riverview United, formerly a Presbyterian church started in a tent in 1906, was located on the east side of Osborne Street, on Oakwood Avenue. Rosedale United, formerly a Methodist church started in 1910 in a tent, was founded at the present location on Beresford Avenue on the west side of Osborne Street. On July 1, 1995, after extensive consultation, the congregations of Rosedale and Riverview amalgamated to form Churchill Park United Church serving the Fort Rouge Area. In 2006, Churchill Park defined its mission as that of an urban village church, reaching out to others, providing a place of meaningful worship, comfort and strength in the community, and fostering global awareness and life-changing friendships.

About the Service

About the Neighbourhood

The Fort Rouge Area has a rich history that includes widespread flooding from the 1950 flood of the Red River, long-time service of the CNR shops, and the River Park which once boasted a roller coaster, a ferry across the river and a small zoo. All that's left of the park today is the popular BDI ice-cream parlour. Our church logo shows a bend of a river, encompassing a cross and trees, symbolic of our community. The area, which has the essence of a small town in the heart of Winnipeg, is bounded by the Red River to the east, the St. Vital Bridge to the south, the CNR tracks and former shops to the west, and "Confusion Corner" (the junction of Osborne Street and Pembina Highway) to the north.
