More to Come!
We pride ourselves in maritime hospitality and welcome - whether we're seeing old friends or welcoming frequent visitors.
Our service starts at 11:00am and lasts about an hour. You'll find we're a salty maritime blend of traditional and contemporary styles - what gives us life in God's name is what we're about!
In a few words, our service might go like this: Gather, Laugh & Sing; Listen for God's Word, Share The Good News, and Pray. How we do those things is always changing and evolving with the wonderful wisdom and spirit of our lay people and worship leaders.
First United is always a warm home for visitors and well known friends alike, we invite you to come and experience worship in our community this Sunday.
We are blessed to live in such an gorgeous place by the sea in Louisbourg. Along some of the most rugged shorelines of Cape Breton, you'll find our humble yet busy town of several shops, restaurants and inn's as we welcome summer after summer of visitors.
Not everyone has an 18th century French Fortess in their backayrd! Fortress of Louisbourg is the largest historical reconstruction that's fully animated in North America and is only a short trip away from our church.
Whether it's walking into the past of colonial Europe or taking a stroll on our waterfront among the throngs of fishing boats and charecters that make up our welcoming town, you're going to have a great time in Louisbourg!
Matthew arrived in Louisbourg on July 1st 2008 as a "transplanted islander" from Newfoundland. He's passionate about liturgy, preaching, music and creating a deeply engaged community of the gospel for all ages and walks of life.
Matt's hobbies include all things guitar and blues, trekking across the Cape Breton coastline, and taking on new adventures with his partner and spouse Lorna.
No group posts at this time.
Rev. Matthew will be away on holidays from July 6th to August 3rd. In the meantime, Alex MacGreggor will be filling in at the church for Sunday worship at both our 9:30 and 11:00 service, and Nancy Whitney (DLM) will be covering all pastoral emergencies. Feel free to contact our Clerk's of Session for contact information.
