SPUC VISION

Sherwood Park United Church

Following Christ we Care and Act

Being Visible in the Community

Doing the work God calls us to do both inside and outside our church.

Inviting others to connect with God through our actions and outreach in all communities whether locally or abroad.

Engaging others in conversation regarding what it is truly like to experience God’s blessing in one’s life.

Inspiring Faith and Fellowship

Allowing people to experience God on their own terms and in their own special ways.

Being open to diversity of opinion and thought, while acting with compassion, love and justice in keeping with our heritage and ethos (culture and theology) as part of the United Church of Canada (UCC).

Considering the needs of others before our own to illuminate the spirit in those we touch and by experiencing God through music, service and other forms of ministry.

Being Responsible Stewards

Acknowledging God as the creator and sustainer of everything.

Taking responsibility, as individuals and a congregation, to sustain our building and assets, financial resources, the community and the environment in which we live.

Sharing the gifts we have been graciously given, to make a positive difference through faithful commitment and action.

About the Service

Quick Facts

Who do I contact with questions?

Contact Barb in our office or Rev. Liz or Pastor Anne. Use the contact info above to reach any of them.

What music is played during services?

Organ, Piano and Keyboard used most Sundays, and Hand Bells on special occasions. We sing a mix of familiar and new music, and have excellent adult and children's choirs.

What's heavenly about your church?

The music and the community

How do people dress for service?

'business casual' is pretty common, but wear whatever you like! Younger people tend to dress more casually, older people more formally

What happens after the service?

Coffee, tea and juice ( and often goodies) in the basement for those who want to stick around and chat.

Is there anything for the kids?

Sunday school for age 3 to grade 12. We also have a play corner in the back for toddlers, and rocking chairs for anyone with a baby
