The St. Andrew's congregation is 101 years old and we are very young in Spirit.  Our mission is to answer the call to be disciples of Jesus Christ, to uphold Christian values, to love our neighbours as ourselves, to welcome all, and to walk together in faith.

Our church is a member of South Alberta Presbytery with people from Bow Island, Burdett, Grassy Lake, Whitla, Winnifred, and all the way to Seven Persons.  We welcome visitors of all ages.  Our church building is fully accessible with the elevator accessed from the east side.

We have a newly renovated kitchen and the community can have access to the use of the kitchen and lower hall for events of up to 80 people.  Examples:  showers and family gatherings.  Telephone the church for details.

About the Service

Our weekly one-hour worship service is at 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning, with Sunday school taking place during the service in the fall, winter and spring.  Our foyer has a comfortable sitting area behind a large window with speakers for anyone needing a change of position during the service (arthritis, etc.).  This area is also suitable for little ones younger than four years old and their parents because it has TOYS, lots of room for movement, a playpen for sleeping and playing, and ready access to the washroom.  Children of all ages, youth and adults are always welcome in the sanctuary.  Worship services are always followed by fellowship and refreshment time in the lower hall.  That's where we get to know each other better and enjoy wonderful snacks.

About the Neighbourhood

Bow Island is the Bean Capital of Alberta graced by the smiling statue of Pinto McBean.  It's a friendly town of about 2,000 people with a wide variety of agricultural industries, recreational facilities, churches, schools, businesses and services.

Church Minister

Pastor Sheila McLeod

Sheila is a Designated Lay Minister who joined us in 2008.  She is outgoing and easy to talk to and enjoys pastoral care visiting and all the other aspects of ministerial responsibilities.  She walks every place, stops to visit people on the street and enjoys gardening with her spouse.  Her office is in the church and she can be reached at the church telephone number which has an answering service.  During the summer she enjoys sharing Bible stories with the children at Canyon United Church Camp in Waterton and attending the Ecumenical Vacation Bible School with the children in Bow Island.

Sheila has been in ministry for 20 years and is a graduate of Theological Studies program at St. Andrew's College in Saskatoon.  She completed the Lay Pastoral Ministry program in 2000 and ministered in various towns in Saskatchewan before joining the congregation at St. Andrews.
