West Vancouver United Church is an active, community-based church. It endeavors to be a welcoming and inclusive place to explore faith in community. Worship is central to the life of this congregation. Music and preaching are integral to the worship experience. A dynamic youth and children’s ministry grows young people into faith. The Caring Ministry enables the church family to care for one another and others in need. West Vancouver United Church is open to different ways of believing. Minds are open. Hearts are open. About the Neighbourhood

West Vancouver United Church (W.V.U.C.) is located in the Municipality of West Vancouver, a residential suburban community across the Lion's Gate Bridge from the City of Vancouver, travelling west. The church is located within walking distance of the city's Senior's Activity Centre, Aquatic Centre, West Vancouver Community Centre, the municipal Ice Arena and the seawall looking towards Stanley Park. Also close by is West Vancouver's main shopping and service area. WVUC is located a short distance from many apartment/condominium complexes although the area north of the church is almost entirely single-family homes. As well as our many church groups, the larger community also use the facility.

Church Minister

Rev. Dr. Ross Lockhart

Rev. Dr. Ross Lockhart was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. During Ross’ late teen years he felt God’s call into church leadership and practiced youth ministry in both Winnipeg and Toronto. After completing a Master of Divinity at Emmanuel College at the University of Toronto (that included ministry experience in Nova Scotia and Kenya), Ross was ordained and settled to Northern Ontario. While in the north Ross and Laura welcomed Emily into the world and learned what it means to parent on very little sleep. St. Matthew’s United Church in Belleville was the next stop with a rich and rewarding ministry in eastern Ontario. While at St. Matthew’s, the Lockhart’s family grew to include Jack and Ross completed his Doctorate in Preaching at McCormick Theological Seminary on the campus of the University of Chicago. Following a fantastic ministry sabbatical with the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, Ross and Laura moved to British Columbia in 2009 to begin their new ministry together at West Vancouver United Church.   Ross is the author of Gen X, Y Faith and co-editor of Three Ways of Grace a collection of essays on the Trinity. Outside of the church, Ross delights in his role as a husband and father as well as being an avid reader, dedicated jogger and lousy golfer. Ross looks forward to meeting you and your loved ones this Sunday at 10 am.
