Went for a long walk today in my small town. The snow is melting, the sun was shining and the sky was bright blue. It was wonderful. The hope of spring is in the air!

Skunk cabbage is up. The pussy willows are fuzzy. The rain is gentle and sweet. It gets dark at 7:45 pm.
The locals are voting NDP for PM.
Spring (love) is in the air.

I just plain wonder where Spring is? I have to admit, it is nicer . . . there is a little bit of slow melting going on. The days have been sunny, but not exactly warm. We still have lots of snow. I'm very much enjoying the light in the evenings longer each day.
I hold out much hope for Spring - it can stay away forever!

You've all got it wrong.
It's Autumn approaching - and not even "Fall".
In many ways it's my favourite season - warm, rather than hot, days. Cool nights, and the water is still warm enough to go swimming in the ocean.

Around here it is still like the depths of a long cold winter.

It is amazing how much snow melted yesterday. And what a joy to many in Calgary when the sun finally made an appearance late Monday afternoon after what seemed like an eternity of gray and white.

Spring is here for us. Getting started early on the "April-Showers", but it is warm, and smells fresh and lovely! =)

There's nothing quite like the "smell" of spring, and that first rainfall Mommy007. I think it's going to be awhile before we get rain instead of snow. Today is our first gloomy day in awhile. Although it has been sunny the melt it slow. With no sun today I'm not sure much will melt at all.
Thanks for the reminder Pilgrims Progress that your seasons are different - autumn and fall are beautiful seasons!

It has been cloudy here in Vancouver the past few days and quite a lot of rain this morning -- but the cherry blossoms and daffodils are in full bloom. Our magnolia tree is in bloom with bright pink flowers as well. We also have had tulips up for the past week or more in our garden, but they must be an early bloom variety -- not many other tulips are out around the neighbourhood yet. The blossoms are late this year - but so glad to finally see the wide array of colour and beauty now. Hoping that other places across the country to follow very soon.

Mon pays, ce n'est pas un pays, c'est l'hiver...
snow is going, but it's still a long time before we'll be able to play out in the dirt...long time before I can dig parsnips...long time before the pussywillows come here....awww...

I found some pussy willows the other day. I filled my skidoo boots with wet snow to get to them though. Look carefully and maybe you'll spot some too weeze. They are often out way earlier than we tend to expect.

A sure sign of spring-I received e-mails advising me of the best local X=coountry ski trails and other ones advising me of the first local spring paddles!

The heron is back in my pond. A bird of surprising grace and infinite patience and another pleasure of spring's renewal.
Taken on the swamp, April 12th
Not a great pic, as the Heron, while appearing slow moving, is quick to fly at the slightest movement.

Spring is definitedly not in the air today. It is freeeeeeeeeeeeeezing out! It is not fair to tease us with great spring weather and then bring winter back!

I feel your cold HappyRetiree.
I was so looking forward to last weekend. The books done for another year. No work obligations. Sunshine all week. Ah, I thought, time to get out in the garden. Then we had a blizzard!
It is indeed a cruel cruel world we live in....

Yeah, herons ROCK! My mother rescued one during the winter. It had somehow got its beak frozen into the side of a ditch and my mother carried it all by herself kms back to her home, warmed it up, made a bed for it until the proper people came by to rescue it.
I so loved living right by a nature reserve.
And yes, it has gotten cold here again. On my way over to visit with my nephews, I went through a heavy hail storm -- first one I saw this year :3 Not like my mother's place, I swear her placed is BLESSED.
