Well, Ellen anounced her departure as a judge on American Idol. Since then, rumors have been circulating as to who will replace her. Jennifer Lopez has been rumored to be her replacement. However, the bigger question is, who will replace Simon Cowell? My source tells me that Steven Tyler and ............HARRY CONNICK JR. are being considered as Mr. Cowell's replacement.
I propose a poll. Who would you rather see as Simon Cowell's replacement as judge on American Idol?
Steven Tyler or Harry Connick Jr.

My vote goes to Harry Connick Jr.
When Randy Jackson leaves, I will tune out. Unless they could get Geddy Lee to replace him. That would be stellar.

Hm. I'd go with GR and Beshpin myself
. Maybe have someone a little less contentious like you or Pilgrim's Progress on to introduce some sanity and try to keep them in line.

But Geddy Lee might actually judge people on ... you know ... their talent and then someone good might actually win. Destroys the whole vibe of the show
.
FWIW, I think the whole thing is just Star Search on steroids and have largely ignored it.

So, my distant cousin, Ellen, is leaving (10th or 11th cousin depending on the lineage-just name dropping). Why not some good old Canadian content, say, Don Cherry to replace Simon Cowell and Burton Cummings (Guess Who fame) to replace Ellen. At least Burton knows something about music.

Between Harry Connick Jr and Stephen Tyler I hope for Harry Connick. At least he still has two brain cells left to rub together.

Hi consumingfire,
I propose a poll. Who would you rather see as Simon Cowell's replacement as judge on American Idol?
I'd vote for Moe Howard, Curly Howard and Larry Fine. Sadly they are unavailable.
In their stead Martin Short, Dave Thomas and Andrea Martin.
Grace and peace to you.

To my knowledge the only one of the three who's had a hit music record is Thomas. Of the three I'd go with him.

Hi Jae,

Not Quite.
Thomas has won two Junos (both for Comedy albums) and an Emmy (for Outstanding Achievement in Content for Non-Traditional Delivery Platform)
Both Short and Martin have experience on Broadway which, I have heard, requires some musical ability.
More than Ellen has at any rate.
Grace and peace to you.

So you're saying Martin and/or Short have hit records? None that I know of. None that you listed.
And say brother, you forgot about this little tune...
