Perhaps some will find this intereresting:
A landmark 2006 study, analyzing data from a large survey of Americans, found that atheists “are less likely to be accepted, publicly and privately, than any others from a long list of ethnic, religious and other minority groups.” Writing in the American Sociological Review, researchers noted that “while rejection of Muslims may have spiked in post-9/11 America, rejection of atheists was higher.”
This and the idea that athiestrs are less moral than believers...(fess up, Chanson

There can moral atheists, and there can be immoral theists. Believing in God does not necessarily make one more moral. One's morality has nothing to do with whether one does or does not believe in God.

Having grown up in an atheist

Having grown up in an atheist household, I assumed for years that it was religious people who were "not quite right." Stereo-type overload! Judge each person as an individual.

I think we should not take US statistics for our own either. They are more religious down there. I have never felt shuned for my non belief in the real world, well in Vancouver anyway, where I grew up. In southern Alberta a big YES. I'll never live there again! They're bass ackwards!

Lets face it ...
Anyone institutionalized is not a moving organism ... can't love freely or think openly ... sort of like an ice cube ... way to cool to get around. Thoughts are like that too without some sense of warmth (internal fire?) That's chi ...
Then there are numerous translational possibilities of Matthew 19:14 where as we are afraid that the wanderers will grasp the souls of our children. Gib'd Seize? Like that prophet lying on one side too long ... eh GEO? Pehaps he should roll about. Is that heaven I hear grumbling ... deep backhands?
Why is it that mortals are not satisfied unless they have enemies ... is the self not enough to keep in control? O' ich-ai comments ...

Any philosophy, art, system
Posted on: 11/20/2011 09:28
Any philosophy, art, system of knowledge, technology, education or culture can be twisted or applied to justify any moral position or behaviour.
Morality is more about our approach to all things, and has a lot to do with our values. But even values can be manipulated towards opposite moral ends... look at politics and war: all sorts of high-sounding values (even moralities) have been twisted towards leaders' ugly ends. This can be the case in a state or a family, in any human group.
We are free to be as whole or as corrupt as we choose.
Wholeness (or not) and discernment are the secrets.

"Strewth mate!" chuckle chuckle... Oz and Canada have much in common. ; ) Even locally, a few hours up the highway in BC, mentioning my non belief was recently met with three agreeing heads out of three.
