Does Transfiguration Sunday always immediately preceed Ash Wednesday in the church calendar?
Is there a church colour for Transfiguration Sunday?

Yes and no. Most churches (among those that closely follow the liturgical year) celebrate Transfiguration as the last Sunday before Lent (and therefore immediately preceeding Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday). Howevr the Lectionary also include T-fig readings on one of the Sundays in Lent (I believe it is the 2nd) as some traditions mark it then.
ANd the colour for T-fig is white or gold
