Please tell me about me. As part of a school assignment for the Practices and Principles of Teaching course that I'm in, I have set a 360-degree survey and welcome your input. Please visit http://jae360.0catch.com/ I'll be closing the survey on February 11, 2012. Thanks.

I just looked at the survey. I haven't filled it in yet...mainly because I don't see an n/a or neither agree nor disagree option...can you build one in, or is it preset? For example, I don't know if you're a good cashier or not, and I have no right to comment on whether or not you're a good husband, etc. ( it's just your personal family business--feels strange to comment on those things) I can gladly answer the zany question though

I wonder Jae if you are also doing this survey with real life friends. Virtual friends-like us here on w/c only know what you share to reveal. What we know about you is filtered through what you have chosen to share. (remeber Namaste and Musical mackenzie?) we do not have the big picture.

I took a look at the survey too, but because we have never met in real life, there were too many questions that I did not feel I could answer accurately. I hope those who truly know you answer the questions and that this tool will help you to learn something about yourself.

Agreed. These are unfair questions to ask people who only know you online. Besides, you keep throwing me for loops - just when I think I'm starting to know you, you say something that contradicts my previous experiences, in both positive and negative ways. Suffice to say, I don't really know you.
If I asked people here to fill out a similar survey for me, that would be equally unfair, though the responses would be hilarious. Other than the "sarcastic" question, I expect the answers would be completely split between two camps, one of which would suggest I'm a decent person, and another camp that would make me out to be like Hitler with a toothache.

The only questions that are required answering are the short text box questions on the bottom. All the questions using radio buttons are optional. If you'd like to fill in the survey, please feel free to leave out answering any of the optional questions. I appreciate all the answers I'm getting -- both positive and negative responses -- as it's part of a school project.

Yes, Tabitha, I am including real life friends, co-workers, school mates, people who attend my church, family members, and online contacts from wc and facebook. My real life friends, as well, know me just from what I've chosen to share with them.

Thanks somegal, that's so kind of you to say. As I mentioned to kimmio, the radio button questions are optional. Perhaps you could like to just fill out the text box questions for me. I think I've said enough stuff on here to suggest answers for those. The results of the survey will be used in a university course I'm taking now, so I hope to get lots of feedback.

This seems quite strange to me jae. I took a look at the survey questions. 360 degree surveys, in my experience, are generally used to evaluate workplace competencies by obtaining specific competency-based feedback from peers with whom one interacts in the workplace. Also, I don't see the relevance of your questions to the online outline of the course you name.
So I'm mystified - what is it you're trying to discern and how does this survey assist you in doing so? Can you elucidate?
P.S. - I am also a lover of rockets candy ... but that's irrelevant :)

Sure, no problem carolla. What we're working on is something called a "Philosophy of Education Paper." The prof is basically trying to get us to know more about ourselves as individuals, because he says that everyone teaches from out of their own beliefs and assumptions about God, other people, and the world we live in. The survey isn't the only suggested activity. We're also being encouraged to write a short autobiography, describe our relationship to authority figures, write an "I" poem, write about our spiritual gift(s), and write a short 5-year plan.
Woohoo! Who's your supplier?

Tabitha, the course is designed to teach us how to teach in general. However, since the course is being taught at a transdenominational Christian university, the issues of Sunday school, preaching, and small group Bible studies often come up.

The paper and activities sound fun. I have long wanted to ask about myself too, so I understand the idea. Good way to go about it, the annonymous way. But remember that for the most part you could be fairly different from how we picture you, so don't take the answers as god's truth. Know that some of them may be wrong. Should be a fun exersize of self analysis.

Currently I do small talks of about 5-10 minutes in church worship services about once a month. I have taught small group Bible studies, and conversational English; and I once did a sermon at a United church. This month I'm sitting in on my church's Sunday school lessons to observe and help out. Oh, and when I was a teen I was in "Family Cluster" at the United church my family attended. Many of my courses at university also include doing a presentation of various lengths. The final project in the present course I'm in includes group teaching something from the Bible.

Thanks to all who took the survey. Thanks to all who considered taking the survey and thought it best that they not. In other words, -- thanks.
When I find the average score for each question in the multiple choice section, almost everything came out as "slightly agree."
There were three "slightly disagree" which were: Jae is usually angry, Jae is usually sad, and Jae is usually cynical, critical, and sarcastic.
There was only one "strongly agree" which was: Jae is a good friend.
A few things I found interesting...
Of husband, son, brother, and father, the score was highest for Jae is a good brother. I found this surprising as I had thought it would be son. Son was second, followed by a tie between husband and father.
Of writer, speaker, teacher, and cashier, the score was highest for Jae is a good writer, followed by cashier, teacher, and lastly speaker. This confirms my thought that writing will be a strong component in my future career.
The scores show that I am more compassionate and sweet & kind than I am patient and long-suffering. They also indicate that I am more zany than I am funny.
Again, thanks to all, doing this survey has been an interesting experience that I recommend to all.
