If you didn't see Larry King tonight here are a couple of Ann Coulter's comments.
Conservative Women have more orgasms than Liberal women because they take sex more seriously and don't hop in and out of bed with every Tom, Dick and Harry. ( meaning that Liberal women do)
Single mothers should either marry the father or give their child up for adoption.
In my opinion, Ann Coulter and Russ Limbaugh should both have their lips duct taped. They are not doing the Evangelical Right of the Republican Party any favours. What do you say?

You've probably heard the parenting admonition that goes something like this, "focus and praise for the positive and ignore the negative" which means give no attention whatsoever to the negative. That was going to be my recommendation. On second thought, though, that would probably result in no-one speaking to Ms. Coulter ever again and perhaps that's a bit extreme since even neo-cons need community. I just wish they'd have their tantrums somewhere else.
Perhaps someone could ask if it's possible that some of those Conservative women take sex more seriously because it's their duty rather than their pleasure...???!!!

Ann Coulter says a lot of stupid things. She believes that women shouldn't have the right to vote because the Democrats never started winning presidencies until that happened. She believes that Christians are Jews perfected (and she said this to a Jewish person on TV). I don't understand how someone as stupid as her can even feed herself.

Satire is always lost on a portion of the community. I'm not too familiar with Ann Coulter, but I expect she gets so many interviews because everyone anticipates her polarized statements and tunes in to see what she will fuss about next.

Dorothy must have spit on her.
Seriously though, that woman personfies the term crackpot. She also said once that we (Canada) should be grateful to America for allowing us to exist. That statement made me wonder if she meant in the Nazi Germany allowed Vichy France to exist, or more in the way the Soviet Union allowed Poland to exist.
BTW, I would also like to see banned from speakin near camera (or any other recording device) as well as people....and pets.....wild animals too....oh yeah, plants too. Waste of good duct tape, but I guess that probably is the best way.

Its the acid rain, which, Coulter would argue doesn't exist.
Whenever I hear the single mom spewage, I often counter with "now, my dear, what do you do about us poor widows". It is, trust me, just as effective as duct tape except it does not prevent one getting hit by the sputtering spittle.
btw, little fact Coulter's never been married, which if she practices what she preaches could go a long way in explaining her crankiness....

i was watching a few comedians at the 'just for laughs' festival, and i have to say that now that dubya is gone, idiots like coulter might be a lifeline for them... without dubya, so much of their material is being lost. keeping a few loudmouth morons like ann in the public eye, but not giving them any form of real power, might be just the ticket for the crisis in the comic industry.

Posted on: 02/23/2009 09:40
Is this a new form of censorship? How American! If we're going to duct tape (how Canadian) those with whom we disagree, perhaps we should start with politics. I would duct tape about 91% of the NDP and 100% of the Bloc Quebecois (some of whom are distant relatives through my Quebecois ancestry. We all have our skeletons), 71% of the Liberals and anyone who opposes Stephen Harper. In sports, would you duct tape Don Cherry? (I wouldn't, but then, who am I?). The US censors tried to 'duct tape'; i.e., censor the Smothers Brothers when they were on TV. What about Royal Canadian Air Farce, This Hour Has Twenty Two Minutes, etc. Following this reasoning, there are a few preachers who should be duct taped. (A number of years ago, I heard a preacher use the "F" word in the pulpit; and I'm not talking Frozen Foods or Fat Free! And, he didn't get Fired!) Satire is an accepted comedy form in this country. Pick up your tape, say a brief prayer to Red Green, and let the hunt begin. Yeehaaa! If she bothers you, don't go on the Comedy Channel and watch "Just For Laughs". You'll run out of duct tape soon.

Still...the duct tape would be somewhat satisfying, if it didn't seem so much like a reactionary move bringing us all to her own level.
And probably a lot of crankiness could be due to loneliness/sexual frustration!

To play the devil's advocate
Posted on: 02/23/2009 10:59
To play the devil's advocate here -- while I might support Ms. Coulter's right to say whatever she wants, we don't have to allow the use of our collective resource, the public airways, to promote it. If she wants to rely on the private print media or the use of her own advertising dollars, so be it. The public airways are ours, collectively, even if the private media act as if they own them, so we get a say in what we will permit.

First of all, I forgot I'm talking within a United Church context in which nothing is taken literally only metaphorically; pass the whip. (Does Wondercafe exist, or is it just a metaphor?). Secondly, I'm just an aging widower, desparate and dateless and looking for someone who can keep me in my old age. At my age the hormones are still chugging, and I can be easy
. This satire is the opinion of the writer and does not necessarily reflect the view of wondercafe or its affiliates, branches, the United Church, the Anglicans, the author or Ish Kabibil. And, you can take that literally. (Maybe I could write for Rick Mercer?)

Ohhhhh, puleeeeeze don't give me a straight line like that. As a former stand up comic, I would likely be banned forever from Wondercafe and condemned to an eternity of reading Observer editorials. Et ne nos inducas in tentationem, sed libera nos a malo.* (I DO remember something from 3 years of Latin. Wow!) Short answer: Not just ANY warm body; I do have my standards. Long answer: CENSORED!

I'd be for duct-taping Don Cherry, personally. Though you could probably do it without infringing on his right to express himself. What about someone making a suit out of it? It would make for wonderful conversation across the country, including many double-entendres from Ron MacLean (e.g., "Someone should have duct-taped Don Cherry a long time ago...").
