Okay ladies (and gents), fess up! How long does it take to put yourself together?
I'm personally still stuck in the 70's and throw on the Covergirl foundation and mascara. The hair seems to take longer!
Is it taking longer the older you get or shorter?

My hair is more work being shorter. It is more likely to do goofy things, like the sides flipping out a la water buffalo horns.
Makeup, when I do bother, is usually just mascara and eyeliner, and some lipstick. That is my rush job. Maybe blush. I almost never wear foundation and have pretty much quit eye shadow. No real reason, I like how it looks. Just laziness or I never go anywhere quite dressy enough anymore.

I have very short hair. I run a comb, or my fingers, through my hair.
Makeup routine. That's funny. I slap on Oil of Olay face cream with 30SPF and perhaps chapstick if it's winter.
Done.

45 minutes ....... yep .... I take my time.... and thankfully it is getting a bit shorter .....maybe...
Foundation, blush, mascara, eyeshadow, eyeliner sometimes, lipstick always...
Hair ...oh my ...hair...... well a work in progress just like the rest of me LOL..
Takes me about an hour to get out the door for work or church.......
The hard part is the night before trying to decide what to wear....
After all ..... can't be seen by clients wearing the same thing as last visit......
OK ... I admit it ... I am a vain girl LOL ......

Makeup? What's that? :D
Posted on: 06/04/2010 12:09
Makeup? What's that? :D Usually it's nothing. My regular morning routine takes about 5 mins. Wash my face, slap on some good SPF moisturizer, run a brush through my hair and slap it up in a ponytail. I work from home so there's no point in getting all dolled up. If I'm heading to town for some errands I might put on some lip gloss, usually Burts Bees, if I remember. If I'm going out to an evening meeting or for dinner I'll usually put on some mascara and some powdered mineral foundation with a brush just to even things up a little and some tinted lip gloss. On a fancier evening or if I'm feeling a bit more spiffy I'll add some mineral eyeshadow and wear my hair down. My hair is dead straight so a brush out is usually all I need. I don't usually bother to blow dry my hair either. It doesn't make a whole lot of difference to the style whether I do or not.
I used to do eyeliner as well but I couldn't tell you where one is now. I swear a had a couple of sticks around here somewhere.....
Oh and a I do have a few gray hairs now so I do use a store bought hair color. Never anything to far off my regular color. Usually a bit lighter in the summer and a bit darker in the winter just mixed things up a bit.

Make-up - liptstick - that's it - sometimes I put cream on my face at night.
Plain and simple.

Interesting to read this thread. No make up for me. Moisture cream, sunscreen and lip balm (clear) are all that are ever put on my face.
My hair is short and wavy. After it's washed I put a small dollop of gooey stuff on my hands and toss it in my hair and walk away. About an hour later, after my hair is dry I run my fingers through it to make sure there aren't any bits that look like there's gel in my hair (using the gel helps maintain the wave in the places I want it to 'rest').

my hair routine is similar to myst's, but lately, I've been wearing it so short that you can't see the wave. Sometimes I give it a 10 second blow-dry to make sure it's sufficiently pouffy!
before bed I use an eye cream and a prescription cream (for eczema) on my face. Doing that regularly at night means that I don't have to do anything in the morning. There's a Body Shop under-eye concealer and a Cover Girl mascara in my drawer - just in case I wake up looking tired.
Done!

Richard stole my joke, so instead of posting it, I'll just ROTFL at his.
My makeup routine consists of brushing my teeth, washing my face, and combing my hair. And sometimes one or more of those gets skipped. Hey, I'm a gorilla. You think we got blush and eyeliner out here in the jungle?
My wife goes pretty light on the makeup and really only wears it for some outings (parties, formal occasions, sometimes church) so I can't even talk about her "makeup routine". She's got a face that really doesn't need much makeup (IMHO).

Sorry about that, Mendalla.
To make up for it, I'll offer you some of my "Body Shop Vitamine E Cleanser".
I use it on my face when I'm in the shower. It does wonders for the dry skin that tends to be created under my beard.
I considered using concealor, but I've got so much skin showing that I'd use all the product in one go!

All I can say is, when I was growing up we had 5 people (2 adults, 3 boys) and 1 bathroom. Once we hit our teens, it was quite a feat to get everyone in and out in time for church on Sunday. Adding a powder room in the basement helped alleviate the congestion a bit since people just looking to brush teeth and stuff could go there, but it could still get hairy.

I guess I need 20 minuits, to wash the hair, blow dry (or else I get cold and the hair is fluffier that way anyway), brush hair, brush teeth, earrings, necklace (for going out), lipstick. Sometimes when I feel like playing, I use powder, mascara, liquid eyeliner, and brow gel, but only for amusement. I own a blush, but have only used it maybe 3 times, when wearing black. I am way out of practice using hair spray and it feels weird and I hate the smell so I don't use it, but volumizer spray is sometimes fun.

Posted on: 06/05/2010 22:06
My alarm is set for 7:42 (OCD thing). I usually hit snooze once or twice and get up between 7:50 and 8:00. I go to the bathroom, take my medication and do a quick check to see if any of my hair is sticking up funny from sleeping on it all night. If it is, I wet it, brush it back down and brush my teeth. Once downstairs, I eat a quick bowl of Cheerios and leave the house around 8:10-8:15 so I can make it to work before 8:45. That's my whole make up routine...nothing. Even on my wedding day, I only spent about 10 minutes on make up. The only thing that keeps me from being out of the house 10 minutes after I get out of bed is my insane need to check my e-mail and message boards before I go out the door.
Edited to add: I should have mentioned that I wash my hair in the evenings after Rachel is in bed. I don't blow dry or do anything with it, even though it's short. That's why it's sometimes sticking up funny in the morning.
Regarding the age part of the question, I wore a tiny bit of make up when I was first allowed to wear it when I started grade 7. I realized that it just wasn't worth it to take even 5 minutes to put on make up. Other than getting pictures taken or special occasions, I haven't bothered since. My skin care routine is essentially the same as it has always been: washing my face means a wipe down with a warm face cloth (unless of course there is actually something to wash off my face). I don't use moisturizers. I occasionally try to exfoliate when my pores get kind of clogged, but that's a few times a year. I put on sunscreen when I know I'm going to be out in the sun for several hours or when I'm going swimming, but that's it.

I usually try to use a moisturizer and foundation with sunscreen ... just something I've done since my teens. With passing years I find a bit of lipstick is good for some colour and a light application of eyeliner. On special occasions I add eye shadow ... and that's it, I'm good to go and it only takes a few minutes!

lol @ Richard - you might like to know my dad has a hairdo like yours, and one time we gave him a suitable hair tool - like the handle of a brush with a piece of felt where the bristles ought to be. Polished up the shiny dome in no time.
My hair was a pain when I was a teen, drove me crazy. Now for some reason I like it lots and it does what I want to. Its longish, and I wash/condition it, then towel dry, then I bend at the waist and blowdry it upside down all over, no brush or styling. The trick that makes it work is that when its dry, I put my dryer on "COOL" for a moment, and blow it with cool air. When I stand up, my whole family laughs at me until I take a moment to comb it down. Then its great!!
moisturizer with spf, eyeliner is a must or I look sleepy, and some lipstick, somtimes I use a foundation powder thing that just pats/wipes on with a sponge - much much easier than gooey foundation that I've never bothered with. If I'm really serious about how I look (ie a party or just some attitude ;0 ) then a bit of eyeshadow and more care about how the eyeliner goes on.
Whole thing not including shower is about 8 minutes.

Put straightening serum product in hair. Blowdry. Straighten with flat iron straight up and into style. Put some wax product in to texturize and hold it. If it's longer, also needs hairspray, sometimes shiny gloss. Shave & put on cologne.
I'm incapable of eating anything but smoothies or yoghurt or oatmeal when I first get up so breakfast is usually in a few hours. Have to wear sunblock for summer.

No make-up on most days and a little bit on very special occasions...I don't want to spend the money or time on it and also, I find the fashion industry to be appalling so try to support it as little as possible. My daughter is a hairdresser and I get my hair done by her at her salon (to support her in her work) but only marginally more often than I used to...I make an effort to look reasonable every day but try very heard to avoid buying into the "you're not good enough" mindset that drives our culture in this area.

My makeup routine? I get up, rub my eyes, look in the mirror and exclaim, "Hey, I can't improve on nature." I address myself, "Southie, you're awesome just as your are." I comb over my remaining hairs, put on my broad smile that reflects my fantastic personality, and go forth to meet the day. I smile and/or laugh at everyone and everything I see. My smile is my makeup. Baby, take a good look at my face (Okay, I'll stop singing...)

Everyone is funny on this thread, but Bott, and Mandella are very amusing, as is WItch.. ;)
A man I loved used the Clinique 3 Step, as do I - the woman's 3 Step; mild soap, (bar or liquid), alcohol-free toner and DDM Dramatically Different Moisturizer with SPF 15. Also use Clinique under eye gel and moisture surge gel when I am too dry. bNowm, I use the redness corrector lotion daily - it realoly does work!
Also switch to Biotherm eye gels esp, Detox and a spray on moisturizer which is ubergreat.
I have correction lotions and potions for all occasions but hardly use any anymore...

Posted on: 06/08/2010 20:50
I vary a lot. Sometimes I just get into a phase where I don't bother with any makeup for weeks unless it's a special occasion. Other times, I'll wear foundation, lip gloss, eye shadow, eye liner, mascara and bronzer/blush quite often. The full makeup phases usually don't last for long though, and lots of the time I wear only a few of the above.
I hate and react to most sunscreens, so in the summer I at least try to use a moisturizer with SPF and foundation (also with SPF) if I'm going to be outside.
