- Matt1147 is a friend of mine who was a user for a couple weeks but has since disappeared (from WonderCafe that is, I'm seeing him on Saturday).
- Femmusic is a Toronto friend of mine who was a poster for a while.
- Pinga drove me from Five Oaks to Toronto.
- SpecialMom was along for the ride.
- Birthstone joined Pinga, SpecialMom, and I for a meal.
- Indira (I think) was also at that meal, but has since disappeared from WC.
- GordW is in the same conference as me, so we met at one of the annual meetings.
- Kinst and I hung out for a bit one evening. (I'm coming back to Toronto in early May if you're reading this Kinst!)
And I almost almost almost met Admin2. I was given a tour of UCC offices in Toronto and we passed by Admin2's office, but he was somewhere else at the moment.

Posted on: 03/03/2010 18:50
I met abPenny on my trip out west the first year of WonderCafe.
Pinga when she passed through NB that same year.
Pinga and a large group at Five Oaks - I hope I don't forget anybody: Mardi (I had met her years before), Qwerty, SpecialMom, Busymom, Birthstone, Rev. John, Faerenach, BethanyK, Kappa, Admin2.
I know Loanna (who only posted a few times), GeoFee, and I recently realized that a recent poster is somebody I know in real life. Gareme lives about 2 hours from me - someday we'll be at the same function - did you see his article in the most recent Readers' Digest?
I was group leader to Rev.Matt's younger brother at Children at Conference in the 1980s, and may have met Rev.Matt there (he would have been a teenager).
I hope to meet Pilgrims Progress this summer.
There are others that I have posted back and forth with, wondermailed, and emailed, so that I feel that I know them even though we haven't met: Crazyheart (how did we miss that summer I travelled through your province?) Musicalmackenzie and her precious baby; Nameste (we've talked on the telephone, call me again).

And I've met Tiger Lily and she even visited us for a week last Sept. That was great. As Hilary noted, we plan to meet this summer when we are at Naramata Centre the same week. And I look forward to meeting more wc folks someday, I'm quite confident that will happen.

I am planning a road trip to Calgary in the spring and would love to meet abPenny.
I am planning a trip with Punkins this summer. We get along great online and on the phone, so it'll be neat to meet in person. Also hoping to make it to Ottawa this summer and meet some of those posters, RevMatt and Sighsnootles, and hopefully Pilgrims Progress at some point too!

Also, I wonder if I've ever crossed paths with Bassic as he also attends a nearby church.

gaiagrrl .... what's even neater with one of our common connections is that the wedding party that Tabitha is talking about my partner being in 25 years ago is the very same couple that used to live in Edmonton that your partner was good friend's with. I love it!!!!! And yes the UCC can be a small world.
Namaste, you reminded me that I have also met Diana and Elby (and miss seeing them here at WC).
I talked to redhead on the phone once in the fall ..... would like to meet her and miss her here too.
Pinga lives near some of my family and one of these days when I'm visiting them Pinga and I will meet up!

Needless to say, I haven't met anyone YET.
But, as I hope to be in Toronto the first week-end in July I hope to rectify that.
Out of curiosity, how do you address each other?
Although it's okay in print - the idea of addressing someone as "crazyheart" or " jesouhaite 777" in real life sounds hilarious.
Can't help wishing you had secret handshakes or something!
Suddenly I'm beginning to feel a bit shy.

Are we planning another picnic for the summer? I heard that maybe Namaste was travelling this summer, and Punkins? PilgrimsProcess - are you coming to the Toronto area?? Match3Frog - you missed ours last summer - too bad! Kinst needs to come this time, and maybe Lb can travel from Muskoka. PastrychefDeb could come too, and carolla. I know I have met Pinga, a long time ago. I also had the great pleasure to connect again this summer.
I believe there have been at least some near misses since a couple of others used to sing in Woman to Woman, or attended Byron United, in London, Ontario. I was also a member in Hamilton Conference. I suspect I might have met a couple of folks there too......back in the dark ages.
I plan to go back to Vancouver, at least in November for a conference, and would love to connect with some of the Vancouver folks.
Did I see right, that someone is in Edmonton? We might be down there in the spring sometime.......

Match2frog - I know that you
Posted on: 03/04/2010 16:13
Match2frog - I know that you think it is because you are a different denomination than many of us on the Cafe that you haven't met anyone in person yet. That is partly true. I'm sure that many of the people various people, such as Pinga, mention have met each other through church sponsored events. For instance I plan to go to Maritime Conference this summer, and also hope to go to a week long seminar. I imagine that I will meet some people from the Cafe at one or the other of these events. So the fact that you do not attend UCC events would mean that you do not meet UCC people at these events. Its not because you belong to a different denomination, its because you don't attend UCC events.
Last summer's gathering at Five Oaks. I distinctly remember contacting you and letting you know that you would be welcome. I realize that transportation can be a problem for one who doesn't drive. But at least one person came by train. And others might have been willing to try to help you, meeting you at an agreed upon place and driving you to the site.
Right now I'm trying to figure out how to get to Halifax this summer to meet Pilgrims Progress (also from a different denomination). Halifax is about five hours from my home and I no longer am able to drive that far myself.
I'm sure that if you are serious about wanting to meet people, it might happen. Pilgrim is landing in Toronto. Maybe some people are planning a gathering there to meet her.

I have also met RichardBott, but at a conference a few years back before I was really on wondercafe.
Birthstone - I hope we'll have another picnic this summer. Punkins and I are planning to be in Ontario the first week of July. Same time as Pilgrims Progress. So hopefully we can plan a wondergathering.

Howz about a wondergathering
Posted on: 03/04/2010 16:53
Howz about a wondergathering picnic?
Coming from the country of the long week-end, an outdoors meet and greet would make me feel right at home. We could all bring food and drink (don't you folks call it potluck?) I suppose I could find a deli somewhere in Toronto?
But please make it somewhere that I can get to by public transport with clear directions. I've never been to Toronto before (or Canada for that matter) and don't want to end up eating my sandwiches on the subway going around in circles!
I can't wait to go up to some good-looking dude and say, "How's it going, consumingfire V3.0?"
