I just thought about this and so if anyone would like their prayer to be sent on the wings of a dove - leave them here.

how about sparks exploding
Posted on: 07/27/2009 07:28
how about sparks exploding into energy, ideas and enthusiasm, with Holy Spirit spilling out everywhere, gleefully taking hold of everyone's openness and lifting them (even kicking & screaming) into new life for this church :)

If you google images Pentecost, there is a fabulous quilt/banner that Linda Schmidt did - scroll down until you see the beautiful abstract red & orange ribbons with a dove spiraling down.

Birthstone - those quilts are amazing - I have never seen quilting like thart before.
And the pentecost quilt is powerful....to me it does represent the Holy Spirit taking flight. Just awesome that someone can make such an inspiring image with quilting.

To me, her pentecost quilt
Posted on: 07/28/2009 13:20
To me, her pentecost quilt showed passion & chaos & power beyond what we could control - an energy that would sweep us up and carry us far beyond our own abilities. That is Pentecost to me - The Spirit mixes in with our own goals & talents & hopes, and fuels it. I miss that in churches when it seems to be just a quiet whisper. Nothing inspires me more than a brainstorming group or discussion that turns into an exciting, exhilarating discovery of hope.
