If we can't go in the flesh, there is a WonderBus leaving from the West. The Worms have consented to be on the bus to provide some music and we have the key to the Wonder Liquor Cabinet. So sign up and ride along.

Posted on: 05/01/2010 13:03
Me thinks that the wonderbus should manover down to the Maritimes. We have some fabulous scenery. You could pick up a few of us here and get us to Five Oaks for the picnic. Since we'll need to stop for a few meals I'm going to bring some Cream of Fiddlehead soup. Can be served either hot or cold. Anybody should make a detour half way across the country for that. And maybe somebody else can provide the smoked salmon or a dozen lobsters.

Okay, well I hope we go the Canadian route, not through the states, cause I've never driven across Ontario . . . I flew to Thunder Bay once from Winnipeg. And I hope we make lots of stops to get out and stretch our legs. And I hope that we get to play road games, and sing, and stop at fine places to eat.

Youthworker, Myst - yes, its early. But think of all the fun we can have. Of course we'll take a Canadian route across Ontario. When we drove out to the west coast and back we took the route that more or less hugs the shores of Lake Superior - I loved the scenery in that part of the country as much as Mr. Seeler loved the Rockies. There is also a more northerly route but it is longer and I don't believe it is as scenic. And remember that your bus won't be swinging down into southern Ontario yet. I've been promised that it will come East, at least as far as the Maritimes. Maybe there is even a Newfie who would like to hop aboard. So plan for a long trip, lots of singing, lots of drinking, and lots of good food. Doesn't anybody want to taste my cream of fiddlehead soup with a sprinkle of little green onions and a daub of whipped cream on top? I'm making some tonight for company tomorrow, and as a test run before the bus is in sight. (Can a virtual bus be 'in sight'?)

Well... if this bus can go anywhere and is outfitted with some sort of time warp technology (since it can get anywhere in no time flat) -- then this might be a sweet deal. I have nine flights this month -- I could save time and money and stress if we can get this bus going on my routes!

Hey! The restaurant where I work now is known for their Cream of Fiddlehead soup, I'm sure I could hook us all up with some! and for those who aren't into the fiddlehead thing I could bring some potato & bacon or some of the best tomato soup around. And if you're all really good maybe even some Sticky Date Cake!
Btw even though I'm all about being early... I think this early might be a bit extreme...

Maybe would could start this bus right at the west coast so we don't miss anyone! The flights from Calgary to Vancouver are pretty reasonable right now so I can get there...I'll drive through the Rockies 'cuz it's tricky for first-timers!
If I'm driving there are LOTS of stops, so bring your cameras and you don't need to worry at all about "holding it"....

About four of the flights aren't so bad -- less than an hour each -- but I've got about 10 hours of layovers in airports (5 on the way there and 5 on the way back). This WonderBus is sounding more and more appealing.
But, it'll be worth it! One is for a meeting in Toronto, after which I'm hanging out with a certain Toronto Wondercafe member. And then the remaining seven flights are part of my vacation (a week of which will be spent hanging out with another Wondercafe member).

I just heard Robin Williams the actor on the radio - and they asked him how long did it take to fly from America to Australia?
"About a year and a half", was his reply.

Oh I didn't know we could bring our pets. You know that Pilgrim isn't too fond of pets. We'll have to keep them away from her. I'm bringing along my daughter's dog - I've been keeping her a lot lately. She's part Golden Retriever, part 'you name it'. She's just past a year old - hyper, friendly, jumps on people, eats anything, destroys plants, shoes, toys, but loves people and other animals. And she has a certificate that says that she 'participated' in obedience training at the basic level. Get that - participated. No one in my family has ever had a participation certificate before. My lab, Pepper, got a plaque that said 'first place'. This dog says that she is tired of hearing about what 'Pepper' could do. So I'll bring her along to play with your livestock. Oh, did I mention she sheds - especially if you're wearing black.

Quite right, seeler!
Here are some choices for your consideration:
1. All animals to go in Penny's horse trailer, and all folks in the bus.
2. I suspect, this being Canada, there'll be more animals that folks - so maybe animals in the bus and folks in the horse trailer? (in view of their diminutive size, pommum's wee doggies can have a window seat.)
3.If animals and folks share the bus - then I'll spend the entire trip in the toilet (Oops- sorry genteel Canadians, "washroom".)
(Memo to myst - please leave me some hand sanitizer.)

Posted on: 05/04/2010 07:39
As he sees the bus approach Mike starts playing the pipes. The bus stops to pick him up - someone thinks this is a good chance to let the dogs out for a run. As the poms prance around licking ankles, Seelerdog catches sight of a squirrel running along a board fence 300 yards away and takes off, several dogs after her. Seeler shouts "No" to the wind. Penny calls and her dog immediately returns to her side as it should. Other dogs mill around the Wonder folk. Seelerdog discovers that the squirrel is long gone up in the treetops, but there is a delightful smell somewhere in the long grasses, something to dig out. Its time to go again. Mike gets on the bus and takes his pipes to the back. Everyone else tries to get in the front seats. Seeler gives up her frantic calling and starts to run away from the bus along the side of the road, alternating clapping her hands and waving her arms. Has she gone crazy? Suddenly Seelerdog is there by her side, running along with her, jumping at her waving arms. She grabs the collar and marches back to the bus. We're on our way again.
