Today is my birthday. So, I've packed the whole weekend full of places I like to go and food I like to eat.
East Side Mario's tonight (for some creamy pasta) with church friends.
The Keg on Saturday (for a big steak followed by creme brulee) with work friends.
Vimy's - the only restaurant open in Waterton Lakes National Park this time of year - with Waterton friends. I don't know what's on the menu in the winter, so I'm excited to be surprised by my Sunday dinner!
What do you like to do for your birthday? Who do you like to spend your time with? What do you like to eat?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
For my birthday, I like to see as many friends as possible -- cuz with some of them, I see them very rarely. One guy that came to my birthday this year, I hadn't seen since my birthday last year. For activities, I'm fairly easy going, but try to pick things that my friends will want to join me for -- all in an effort to get as many out as possible.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HILARY!!!!
I signed on to wondercafe and was going to start a happy birthday thread for you Hilary and you beat me to it. Nice questions to think about what things people like to do and eat on their birthday. Usually I prefer a quiet birthday meal at home with my family (I often choose some kind of pasta) and a homemade cake. But, it's also nice to gather with friends around my birthday and I usually try to work something special in with friends as well. Also, having a winter birthday I have spent many birthdays (or the weekend closest to my bday) on the ski hill and that's wonderful.
Your birthday weekend sounds like it will be filled with good food, good friends, and adventures in that beautiful Waterton area as well. Enjoy!!!

Happy Birthday Hilary! What a great weekend you have planned. Good for you!
I like to spend my birthday with family (the busygang and my extended family). I have a twin brother and our birthday always falls on or around Father's Day, so we usually get together and celebrate it big.

I knew I could count on you, myst, but I wanted my birthday thread to be something different.
Thanks for all the good wishes, everyone. Now I just have to get through the work day!

Enjoy your birthday Hilary. Sounds like fun!
Don't think I have one way of celebrating - different year to year. But usually involves CHOCOLATE CAKE
and friends.

Happy Birthday Hilary ... sounds like a very busy weekend ahead. Enjoy!
On my birthday I went out to lunch with a very dear friend I don't see near often enough, and I usually spend my birthday with my family. It will be sooo much fun celebrating with my grandbabies when they get older!

A perfect birthday for me
Posted on: 03/12/2010 15:22
A perfect birthday for me would be to make sure my housework and chores are all done the day before so that I can totally relax on my special day. I would like to start my day by going for a nice long walk in the morning. I would like to have a lunch date - with some of my gal pals. I would like to be taken out for supper by and with all my family who are free and available to do so. If it is a special birthday I would like to have a party - preferably out at the cabin with close friends and family members - have a barbeque and a big pot of chili and then sit around an open campfire into the wee hours of the morning.

Happy Birthday!
On my birthday, my choice would always be to spend some time at the family cottage, to swim, lounge, drink slightly more than is wise, go fishing, eat what I catch (pike, preferably), and generally have a relatively quiet time with family and/or a small group of friends.
That rarely happens, but that's the ideal!

Happy birthday, Hilary!
I'd like to curl up with a good book or movie, then hit my favorite Viet-Thai place (or another good ethnic restaurant) for dinner. First one rarely works out (unless it's on a weekend and nothing's happening family-wise), but we usually manage the second.

Happy Birthday Hilary! Sounds like you're going to have a fantastic weekend.
Like you, I worked on my last birthday, but normally I like the day off, for starters. I'd like to go up north and stay in a cottage -- much like Beloved's idea and just hang out with the fire, a bunch of books and a six pack of Corona.
Otherwise the same thing at home, but with cats instead of a fire. No parties or fuss. Maybe a good meal with a friend or two.

Happy Birthday Hilary! My birthday was yesterday (march 11th). I ate at Humpty's for lunch and had a ceaser salad in the evening at the pub while singing a bunch of songs at Karaoke. Tonight I am going to eat at Brewsters with my parents and then later in the evening I'm going to sing more Karaoke. I'm finding my groove with certain songs that I can sing well to. Occasionally I try something new (or old) and totally butcher it...lol... seems my voice doesn't get better with age eh? lOl
Hope your birthday is a blast and many happy more to you.
Cheers!

Happy Birthday, Hilary! Sounds like a great weekend you've got planned!
For my birthday, I always go for lunch and shopping with my mom usually sometime during the week before my birthday. I always shop for my own birthday present (it's been a tradition for years now), and it's almost always some kind of jewelry. Then (usually on a weekend), one night I'll go out for dinner with a few of my close friends - usally somewhere fun and funky, and then on Sunday, a nice dinner with the family.

Happy birthday Hilary!
I share your enthusiasm for having a favourite meal in a restaurant on my birthday.
This is my favourite birthday menu.
Entree (Maybe you say starters?) Garlic king prawns - with herb bread to mop up the sauce.
Main Lobster Thermidor and Salad
Dessert Passionfruit Creme Brulee
A glass or two of chardonnay. I like a table by the window - preferably with a water view.
But, most of all, good company.

Happy birthday Hilary and alivetoday!!!!!
I DO NOT feed anyone on my birthday. I don't cook, I don't pick up take out, I do not pick up the phone to order pizza, I do not make a sandwich, I do not feed the cat. I don't care if someone heats up a frozen pizza, takes me out to dinner or picks up takeout, as long as I don't have anything to do with food ending up in front of me. Other than that, I'm not fussy about doing anything in particular on my birthday. I used to go out to lunch with my mom or over to her place for dinner. I can't even remember what I ate last year. I know I spent 6 hours infront of my sewing machine and I went to check on my mom.

Since age 5 I've always seen a movie on my birthday. It started out way back when with 101 Dalmations, followed closely by The Aristocats. I'd love to start a collection of all the movie posters over the past 41 years. What did I see this year? The Young Victoria. I like to spend my time with family and friends, and I like to eat popcorn.

Happy birthday Hilary! As for me I have a summer birthday so my thing is homemade burgers fixed on the grill. That's always so much better than fast food burgers or even ones from a sit down restaurant. Usually we'll have funfetti cake (actually prefer the ones from a mix to the ones you buy already made) with funfetti icing. Ice cream is fine too. That's been my first choice since I was a teenager and I expect it always will be.

Happy birthdays Hilary & Alivetoday!
Mine is a summer birthday too, but right at the end, so a very important thing for me has always been 'no school stuff, no school shopping, no planning at all' until after my birthday. Which never worked because presents often consisted of backpacks, lunchbags etc. Now with my own kids, I try to hold off, but it is getting more fun to do stuff with them and they dont' have the same hang-up as me. Anyway, my birthday is like the last hurrah of summer.
Growing up, the Peach Festival is always right at my birthday, so my parents have always been up to their eyeballs in that, often my dad missed my birthday dinner because he was up a ladder somewhere, but that was ok by me - I got ride passes & free food (fries, sundaes, souvlaki etc) and a ridiculous amount of free time to bum around with my best friend (a PF brat too).
Now, I'm grown up and the PF doesn't affect me so much. I like to be taken out to a good restaurant for something new or special, but I'm fine if a few friends come by for a backyard thing. I'd love to be at the cottage, but never am. Lollygagging around is just perfect by my standards.

Happy Birthday Hilary! I love that you've taken charge of making sure there's lots of wonderful celebrating going on ... no waiting around to see if anybody remembers!
On my birthday, I like to just hang out with friends and/or family - no big fuss or bother - tasty BBQ, good wine, maybe some chocolate!
Last night I was at a surprise party for a friend's 60th - and he was surprised! It was just family & "chosen family" (our connection - friends for 40 years now!) at an upscale, cozy restaurant. Extravagant, delicious meal, lots of laughing and reminiscing! Then cake & tea at home ... lovely.
And happy birthday to you too alivetoday! Glad you squeezed in some of your favourite karaoke!
