Let me start by saying I need help!!! It's high time, my husband and I need a second opinion on what's going on in our lives!

I just came across a phrase in another thread -- competent Christian counselor-- that got me to thinking.  What is competent counseling?  What is  it that makes counseling explicitly Christian?  Is there a connection between religious belief and skill as a counselor?

Any thoughts?
