Somegirl's thread "On Fear" brought up personal fears I have about walking alone. I don't know if the fear is rational or not. I live alone, and so there wouldn't be anyone to miss me if I didn't arrive home in a reasonable time. Also, I'm not as fit as I once was and worry that I wouldn't be able to run away if I felt unsafe.
I'd love to be able to walk on nature trails, but am too afraid to go it alone.
I just spent two days at a workshop devoted to creating exercise programmes for seniors. I'm pumped. Can't wait til Monday to start implementing some of the ideas.
But the single most important thing I came away with from this workshop was the importance of activity in promoting a healthy long life. I always knew this based on the seniors I have had the privilege of knowing but the past two days reinforced this anecdotal evidence with research.
