Rev. Cheri DiNovo had an interview about her life in Ontario politics now in the Observer. If you have the time, please read it and listen to what she has to say:
Introduced by the Revd. Cheri DiNovo (NDP - Parkdale-High Park), this private member's bill would amend the Ontario Human Rights Code to protect Ontarians from discrimination on the basis of gender identity.
Today a historic event happened in my town. My best friend's mother was ordained as a deacon in our anglican/grace united church.
This is special for several reasons.
She is a woman. This in itself is an achievement in such a male dominated world.
She is of Slavey Aboriginal descent (she is the first person of that heritage in all of canada to be ordained as a deacon in the anglican church's 150 or so years here)
